I have a few...
*Being at the bar at midnight on Jen's 21st birthday and realizing that everyone had to be moved out of 2116 by 9am- working all night moving everything out and cleaning. There was this rubber glove with something red on it tied to a shelf in the fridge and I dont think I'll ever get that image out of my head.
*Fourth of July party last year
*When Rob, Jon and I came home from the OP and I was so drunk- I insisted on sleeping outside on the grass in the back, got mad when Rob wouldn't let me, broke my sandal, threw it at Jon, who fixed it and threw it back at me.
By the way Jon, someone asked me the other night if I had ever seen Sports Night and went on to talk about what a great show it was. Thought you might like that.

I recall the first time I went over to 2116 after I saw the gaping bullet wound in the upstairs bedroom wall. I was sitting in the front room, continually feeling myself ever so slightly subconsciously ducking under the couch.

So, best memory from 2116? There are so many, I will list them in no particular order, starting... .... ... .......... .. ......... .. . .... ....... . . . . . . . NOW!!!

  • Building the loft... the planning stages took months -- from start to finish -- or 15 minutes in actual time sitting down with the Cap and figuring it out. The, after work, we just... did it. And damn, if that wasn't a fine loft. I even dropped a stool on someone's head accidentally. And, let's be honest, any loft that doesn't leave you with a story like that isn't worthy of being called a loft.
  • The Pseudo-Room. If you experienced it, well... yeah...
  • Having a keg of beer buried in snow for over a month in our backyard, and pitchers of beer in the fridge at all times.
  • New Years Parties -- although, technically I'm not sure that I should be allowed to call most of those "memories" so much as "pictures I saw later."
  • the picture wall
  • Cooking with the Cap and screaming at eachother so much, and so violently, that people thought we were about to kill eachother. good times...
  • The neighbors. Weekend Steve. The hippies who I jammed with once. And the girls.
  • The other neighbors, who got into a gun-battle with some folks over a girl.
  • The Little Resturaunt that Couldn't across the street.
  • The OP
  • Hanging out on the poarch with... well, whoever happened to be there at the time.
  • Writing songs with Robbie
  • Watching Joe puke over the railing after he had a hard time which way was down
  • That f**king umbrella in the bathroom
  • The bathroom that was bigger than the third bedroom
  • the creepy creepy basement
  • building the video shelf
  • all the folks that came through there at one point or another.

Yeah... there are more, but I figured that would be a good start... or, since Joey started it, a good addendum.

Hey guys. I was just sitting here thinking about how much fun 2116 Burdick was, and I thought since we all used to hang out there and most of us lived there at one time or another, what is your favorite memory of the old place?

I thought it was funny when that stool fell on Jessica's head on New Years Eve. Or the couple poker games we had. Any of the holiday parties there. I specifically remember talking to Jon while he was grilling about Terminator 3. That was pretty recent though. I remember Erin Cain's first visit and I warned her the place was kind of messy, and how cocky she was beforehand about not being shocked at messy college guys houses, but how she almost crapped herself when she got a load of the place.

I miss Jon's cooking.

Anyway, what do you guys remember?

Everything is peachy here! The wedding is slowly coming together. The invites went out, the response cards are comin in, 90% of the wedding gifts are bought and paid for, hair/nail appointments set, the bridal showers are done, and we're broke but still hangin on! Everythings just great! :) I'm very excited for the rehersal and reception part.....not so much for the ceremony because it's a little scary but I'll be fine. Did I tell you the breakdown? The bride and her best bridesmaids are arriving to the church in a limo a half hour before the ceremony starts, then as we walk down the isle, a violinist, pianist, and a singer will all do their thing. Blah blah blah reception. When guests first arrive at the reception, they'll be greeted, given a drink, and invited to enjoy the pianist playing in the foyer of the club. My irish side will probably get there early and throw back a few before everyone else - but hopefully, they'll leave a few bottles left over for the rest of us. Then Tim, a guy we buy insulation materials from at work, is going to bring his band over from GR, set up, and play the reception. BUT not before we hear a few tunes from Handsome Rob first. Then when everyone's good and drunk, we're going to go down to Metro and spend the night in the new hotel IN the airport! - cool huh? I'm excited.

I would love for John Kerry to win, because it would give me some faith in the government, but even more importantly, some faith in the people of America. I'm nervous that too many people don't understand the difference between Iraq and al-Queda, and that too many people don't realize that waging a war with a sovergn, non-threatening nation for oil profits and Halliburton is simply adding fuel to the terrorists cause. I worry that people believe that terrorism is a new problem that only this president has experience with, and we're in danger with someone else. People have forgotten the first time the WTC was attacked in 1993, the bombing of the USS Cole, the bombing of two American embassies in Africa. People don't worry that this president had to deal with the same terrorism that his father, and Bill Clinton had to deal with, but sadly, this president may have dropped the ball.

So I hope that John Kerry wins. I know it's close, but honestly, I'm not sure I believe that a lot of the people of this country have enough facts to make an educated decision. Sadly now the "liberal media" conglomerate Sinclair is ordering it's stations to broadcast "anti-Kerry" propaganda. Mark Hyman is a millionaire, Bush's tax cut benefited him greatly. Is this not entirely transparent? No? Here's a few quotes from the company. (report taken from The Washington Post: "Sinclair Stations to Air Anti-Kerry Documentary" By Paul Farhi. Monday, October 11, 2004; Page A07)

"...Vice President Mark Hyman said 'This is a powerful story," Hyman said. "The networks are acting like Holocaust deniers and pretending [the POWs] don't exist. It would be irresponsible to ignore them.'"

later in the same article...

The company made news in April when it ordered seven of its ABC-affiliated stations not to air a "Nightline" segment that featured a reading of the names of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq; a Sinclair executive called that broadcast "contrary to the public interest."

Does that seem a little hypocritical?

I will end this way too long post for the 3Pimp site, by saying I like ice cream better than ponies.

i hate to seem as though I'm jumpin on the bandwagon here but I think our next white house administration is going to be lead by the Kerry/Edwards team. In the last few debates I've seen, Kerry has had tremendous composure and he has held to his convictions rather firmly I think. Bush was very bumbly and couldn't articulate his rebuttals very well at all. I think Americans really pay attention to that.

I took this class once at Western called PCSI311 "Politics and the Media" and we studied the effect of ads on a controlled audience. Sadly enough, the audience responded to the colors, talk over voices, and images in the ad rather than content. For example, the famous "Revolving Door" ad produced by the Bush Sr. campaign during the Bush/Dukakis elections showed a black and white video clip of prisoners walking through a revolving prison door. Added with the fact that the Bush Campaign grossly overexaggerated the Furlough program - one of the many prison reform programs run by the Dukakis gubernatorial administration - the ad destroyed Dukakis's political career. Point being, people who viewed that ad were most definitely effected by its images. Again, I think it was the LBJ campaign that developed the famous "Daisy Ad" that ran during the Cold War times. It featured a little girl picking a Daisy then a nuclear bomb went off in the background. I think the voice over said something like "eisenhower's answer to the cold war" or something like that. MANY people responded to that ad. Scared the crap out of me and I wasn't even alive during that election.

I think that the American public is shallow. We don't all have time to watch debates and read websites and take time out of our lives to learn about our candidates. Us, the people who read this blog, we're educated people. We are willing to find out info on candidate's before we vote. However, I'd say a good majority of people learn about their candidate on TV or maybe the radio. American people are shallow. That's just how we are and we're happy that way.

Hey look, my first post!
I like ice cream a lot better than ponies, Joe.

You've been... THUNDERSTRUCK!!!!

3Pimps rocks my face off.

So here's a question, who do you think is going to win the election and why, and is it who you're hoping for?

If that's too serious of a question, then answer this: which do you like better, ice cream or ponies?

At any rate, I want to start a conversation here. Jonny, I haven't asked her yet, and I don't know if she'd even be interested, but how about inviting Marcy to this page.

Discuss... or I'll come up there.

I have returned.

Does anyone else think it creepy that someone has THAT many pics of the little boy from Flight of the Navigator?
